Appointment FAQs

Q1. Do I need a GP referral to be seen?
A. It is desirable but not essential. You can ask your GP for referral but self-referral may be accepted.

Q2. What to expect at first appointment?
A. First you will be asked to fill a registration form including health questionnaire if you do not have a records on the national health system. It can take 10 minutes to complete. Therefore, is it is better to arrive a little earlier. Then you will be seen for approximately 40-60 minutes for a first consultation. 

Q2. Can I bring a support person with me?
A. Yes, your are very welcomed to do so.

Q3. Is a chaperon nurse available on request?
A. Yes, please ask if you require a chaperon nurse to attend during consultation or examination.

Q3. What is the cost of a consultation?
A. The cost is $220 for Gynaecology clinic (40 mints) and $250 for Pelvic pain clinic (60 mints). This covers a comprehensive medical history addressing your problem, a gynaecology examination my be undertake and further investigations if required. The treatment options will be all discussed and there will be an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. 

 Q3. Will my medical insurance cover the surgery cost ?
A. You my not require surgery but most of medical insurances covers 80% - 100% of the cost of your surgery. It is based on your policy terms and conditions. It is up to the policy holder to check with their insurance company.

Q3. If I need a surgery, where will it be performed?
A. it is usually either at St George's Hospital or Southern Cross Hospital. You need to check with your insurance company if they have any preference.
